At Mavericks, we believe jiu-jitsu is, at its core, about technique. In the modern era, it is easy to look at bigger, stronger, more athletic competitors and feel like physicality is becoming the most important factor. But from the beginning, both of us have always believed that intelligent technique can overcome size, strength, and athleticism. That belief shaped the way we trained, competed, and built our games. We both came from small academies where we did not always have access to large competition teams or unlimited training partners. Because of that, we had to think outside the box, study deeply, and find smarter ways to develop. Our careers have been built around understanding jiu-jitsu at a technical level and making those ideas work at the highest levels of competition. The Mavericks Association was created to help other coaches and athletes do the same. As a Mavericks affiliate, you get access to our instructional library, exclusive Patreon content, direct support from Jon and Espen, and a community of like-minded coaches who are always willing to share ideas. Every year, we also host a Mavericks camp, bringing the association together to train, collaborate, and build lasting connections. Our goal is simple: to help academies develop better jiu-jitsu through intelligent training, technical understanding, and a shared commitment to improvement.
